The Personalized Wave as seen at Monse SS17
Do you yearn for soft waves but can never find the right style to suit your hair? Help is
finally at hand – a huge trend at the Spring/Summer 2017 New York Fashion Week was the
personalized wave, which is all about embracing and enhancing your individual hair type for
your best waves yet.
Backstage, TRESemmé New York Fashion Week ambassador and legendary hair stylist
Orlando Pita worked with a huge range of different haircuts and textures at the Monse
SS17 show. Pita translated the designer’s deconstructed, seductive collection into a variety
of different hair looks for the models – long hair was styled with the classic boho middle
parting, shorter looks with more texture for an androgynous finish, and there were even
some graphic fringes here and there for a tougher edge. Pita concentrated on not forcing a
style on any of the different haircuts, instead taking an organic approach and celebrating
what made each model unique – perfectly capturing the Monse aesthetic and this hair
trend.
On the street, style setters everywhere were rocking the ‘I woke up like this’ wave, where
soft waves had an imperfect finish for an effortless result. Ready to find your own
personalized wave? Here’s a handy step-by-step guide from Pita himself.
