Chain Ponytail: New York Fashion Week Inspiration
We all get those days when we don’t want super bold hairstyle, but that doesn’t mean that we would settle for a simple bun. This chain ponytail is perfect for those days: it’s understated yet pretty, with a sassy detail in the back that gives it that chic feel.
Step 1: The prep step is important, because you want your hair to be strong, to deal with the rigours of styling. For this we’d recommend you use the TRESemmé Platinum Strength Shampoo and Conditioner, as it strengthens hair and reverses the look of damage for up to 2 years. Once your hair is washed and dried you can begin styling.
This look works best with loose curls or waves, but sleek hair works well too. To begin, spay a bit of the TRESemmé Volume & Lift Mousse to the mid-lengths of your hair, to give it volume and hold.
Step 2: Take a section of hair from either side of your ponytail and tie these together as if you’re tying a knot. Repeat using the same sections of hair.
Step 3: Once the two pieces of hair are knotted almost to the bottom, tie them together with the leftover hair, using a small elastic. When this is secure, begin pulling on the ‘links’ of your ponytail to make it look bigger and more chain-like.
Step 4: Hide the elastic by covering it, by wrapping a piece or hair from the ponytail around it. Tuck the leftover piece in with a bobby pin. To finish, pull out a few strands of hair in the front, to frame your face.
